Example calculation

$22 an hour, 40 regular hours plus 8 at time and a half:

Regular = 40 × 22 = $880

Overtime rate = 22 × 1.5 = $33 → 8 × 33 = $264

Total = $1,144 for 48 hours, an average of $23.83 an hour.

What does this result mean?

Overtime rules differ by country and contract. In the United States, non-exempt employees must generally be paid at least 1.5× for hours beyond 40 in a week. Many other jurisdictions set daily thresholds or higher weekend and public-holiday rates instead. The multiplier field lets you match whichever applies to you.
